As a Backend Developer, you'll design, build and maintain robust server-side applications that power Axis Communications' core business systems. You'll work on both new features and the modernization of existing platforms, improving performance and reliability at scale. What you'll do here as Backend Developer
You'll work on the core engine of our business, improving the systems that our most critical operations rely on. The work combines new feature development with maintaining and modernizing existing systems. Because the role combines backend development with DevOps responsibilities, you'll work across the full application lifecycle.
In this role, you will:
- Develop, test and maintain scalable, reliable backend services and APIs, primarily in Python and PHP
- Manage and troubleshoot our applications and infrastructure in a Linux environment
- Write and maintain Bash scripts to automate deployment, monitoring and operational tasks
- Collaborate with front-end developers and other team members to deliver high-quality features
- Take ownership of features and systems, from concept to deployment and maintenance
- Maintain, refactor and improve existing legacy codebases
- Identify and propose new ideas for improving our systems and development processes

We'd love to hear that you have:
Strong proficiency in backend development with Python and/or PHP.
Solid experience working within a Linux environment, including command-line proficiency.
Demonstrable ability to write clean, efficient Bash scripts for automation.
Experience with databases such as MySQL.
Experience with building and consuming RESTful APIs and queue systems.
Bonus Points for Experience With:
Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
Ansible.
