Your opportunity
Would you like to combine geoscience, data and technology to support the future of mineral exploration?
We are looking for an Exploration Geodata Specialist to help develop and maintain Boliden's geoscientific data platform and support exploration teams across the organization. You will help ensure that Boliden's geoscientific and exploration data remains reliable, accessible and useful over time. A key part of the assignment will be contributing to the implementation and further development of our new SQL-based geodata platform, QDB, across our exploration sites.
The position can be based at the Boliden office or at one of our sites, subject to agreement.
What you will do
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Develop, improve and document SQL-based exploration database structures, views and validation logic
- Design workflows for geological, geophysical and spatial data
- Support the rollout and continued development of QDB
- Develop SQL scripts, import and export routines and automated workflows
- Integrate databases with GIS, modelling, reporting and analysis tools
- Support data quality, governance, QA/QC, metadata management and controlled access
- Translate the needs of geologists, geophysicists and Geodata users into practical system improvements
- Test new solutions and provide technical support, documentation and training material
- Collaborate with Geodata, Exploration, GIS users, IT and external suppliers
- Help ensure that exploration data is reliable, validated, traceable and accessible over time
What you bring
You enjoy working at the intersection of geoscience and technology. You approach complex information methodically and understand the importance of quality, traceability and long-term maintainability. You communicate clearly and can turn operational needs into practical technical solutions.
We believe you have
A university degree or equivalent education in geology, geophysics, GIS, geodata management, database development, computer science or another relevant technical field
Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases
A good understanding of geological or geophysical data, drillhole data and exploration workflows
Practical experience with GIS and spatial data
Programming or scripting skills
The ability to develop, test and document database applications and automated workflows
A structured, quality-focused and analytical approach
Good written and spoken English
Proficiency in the local language relevant to your workplace
The ability to collaborate effectively with both technical specialists and operational users
A valid European Category B driver's license
It is an advantage if you have
Experience integrating databases with GIS or geological modelling tools
Experience with geodata management, exploration databases or geological and geophysical information
Broad academic or professional experience covering both geoscience and data systems
